 Cross-listed with GRNT Should we use or avoid a simplified speech register (Elderspeak) when speaking to older people? What are the changes in our language as we age? This class gives an overview of the literature on language and aging including impaired language, with a focus on enhancing communication as part of every area of caregiving. Class delivery for this course will alternate between face-to-face and online meetings using CENTRA, a web-supported, two-way presentation package with live audio and chat, supported by 49er Express listserv and chat when we are not using CENTRA. You’ll need inexpensive earphones-and-microphone.
