International Studies is seeking a full time Lecturer beginning August 2008. This is a three year, renewable non-tenure track position. Requirements for the position include: 1) a Master’s degree in International Relations or a related discipline, although a Ph. D. is preferred; 2) prior teaching experience at the college level; 3) an ability to teach in a diverse classroom; 4) a commitment to student-centered multidisciplinary education. International Studies is an interdisciplinary program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences which emphasizes multiple approaches to the field. Teaching responsibilities will include the introductory core course and the capstone Senior Seminar, as well as existing or new courses that would apply to the program’s global and/or area studies requirements. The position also involves significant administrative and advising responsibilities in support of the Director of International Studies. The person hired will have a dual appointment in International Studies and Political Science or another academic department within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences that is commensurate with his or her academic credentials. International Studies is a growing program that currently enrolls over 200 students and offers both a major and a minor. Students take courses to promote global economic, geo-political and socio-cultural awareness and pursue multidisciplinary concentrations in African, Asian, European, Latin American or Comparative studies.
