Senior level twelve-month appointment beginning July 1, 2008. Salary competitive. Applications are invited from individuals in anydisciplinary tradition whose teaching and research demonstrate a commitment toAfricana Studies as an interdisciplinary enterprise and whose vision of thefield embraces the study of all facets of Africaand the African Diaspora. Candidatesshould have 1) a doctoral degree, 2) an active research agenda in anappropriate field, 3) credentials and experience appropriate for a senior levelappointment at UNC Charlotte, preferably as a full professor, 4) administrativeexperience that demonstrates their potential for success as a department chair,5) interest in community outreach. Arecord of success in securing program-related funding is highly desirable. The selected candidate will need to have theability to lead an interdisciplinary program consisting of both core andaffiliated faculty, to integrate the department’s faculty and programs into themission of the college, and to work productively in the community.
