The Department of Anthropology, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, invites applications for a full-time lecturer, beginning August 2008. This is a three-year, renewable, non-tenure-track position, focusing on teaching and advising undergraduate students. Teaching responsibilities will include 4 courses per semester, including a four-field Introduction to Anthropology and electives. Area of specialization is open but ability to teach in more than one subfield and/or experience in applied anthropology is advantageous. M.A. in Anthropology is required; Ph.D. in Anthropology is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate prior undergraduate teaching experience, an interest in teaching a diverse student population, and a commitment to holistic anthropology. The Department of Anthropology currently offers an undergraduate major and minor and a concentration in applied anthropology. An M.A. program in Anthropology is being developed. The Department serves about 75 majors and a large number of general education students. The Department has ongoing commitments to several interdisciplinary programs, including Women’s and Gender Studies, International Studies, Latin American Studies, Islamic Studies, and American Studies.
