The Department of Anthropology, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, invites applications for a full-time lecturer, beginning August 2008.  This is a three-year, renewable, non-tenure-track position, focusing on teaching and advising undergraduate students.  Teaching responsibilities will include 4 courses per semester, including a four-field Introduction to Anthropology and electives.  Area of specialization is open but ability to teach in more than one subfield and/or experience in applied anthropology is advantageous. M.A. in Anthropology is required; Ph.D. in Anthropology is preferred.  Candidates should demonstrate prior undergraduate teaching experience, an interest in teaching a diverse student population, and a commitment to holistic anthropology.

The Department of Anthropology currently offers an undergraduate major and minor and a concentration in applied anthropology.  An M.A. program in Anthropology is being developed.  The Department serves about 75 majors and a large number of general education students.  The Department has ongoing commitments to several interdisciplinary programs, including Women’s and Gender Studies, International Studies, Latin American Studies, Islamic Studies, and American Studies.  Ability to cross-list with these programs is desirable.
